County woman sent to prison for fifth DUI

Crook County resident Nancy Hawken has been sentenced to between five and seven years for a felony charge of driving while under the influence, fifth offense, after her vehicle was found in a ditch.

On the evening of December 15, 2020, a Wyoming Highway Patrol was advised of a vehicle that had slid off the road with a possibly intoxicated driver.

Hawken was transported to the Crook County Detention Center, where she agreed to a breath test; the first sample at around 7:30 p.m. indicated a blood alcohol content of .276% and a second four minutes later indicated .260%.

Hawken has two known prior convictions in Crook County in 2011 and 2017 and two in Weston County in 2012 and 2014. She was sentenced by Judge John R. Perry to between five and seven years in a state penal institution, with credit for 185 days served.

For violating probation on the 2017 charge of driving while under the influence, Hawken was sentenced to between 30 and 60 months, with credit for 189 days already served, to run concurrently with the current sentence. Her obligation to pay a $10,000 fine plus costs for this previous charge remains.
