James R. Geis was presented with a Quilt of Valor on his birthday by his sister, Cheryl Williams. Geis is a Vietnam veteran who was stationed at Phan Rang Air Base with the 821 Communications Squadron, Strategic Air Command.
A communications specialist, Geis received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. He was honorably discharged in 1971.
The Quilts of Valor Foundation describes its mission as to “cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.” The quilt was designed by Williams and the quilting was donated by Silver-Sisters Quilts N More, LLC and Embroidery by Darlene Fetters.
