Applications open for Country Junkin'

For the third time this June, county residents will have the opportunity to either sell their unwanted items, find new treasures – or both – during the countywide Country Junkin’ yard sale. Applications are available now if you would like to sign up as a vendor at this year’s event.

The Country Junkin’ event was conceived in 2019 as a way to attract visitors to the area while giving avid collectors the chance to share their treasures and combining the yard and garage sales that tend to punctuate the summer in this region. This year, Country Junkin’ will be hosted by the Sundance Chamber of Commerce.

“The chamber took over the event in its third year because Hulett started it for the first year, Moorcroft did it last year, so now it’s our turn to help organize the event,” explains Jamie Jessen, Sundance Chamber of Commerce.

The weekend of bargain hunting is set to take place on June 18 and 19 and, as always, will include vendors all across the county. Vendors are welcome to set up tables at their own homes or work together to create a communal site at, for example, a participating local business or on a single vendor’s property.

“We’re also hoping to be able to offer a limited number of vendors in Sundance a chance to be at the new Sundance Square if we can get permission from the City to do so, and assuming it’s ready,” Jessen says.

The chamber expects there to be around 50 vendors this year, all of which will be listed in a directory to help shoppers plan their route around the county.

Application forms were made available this week at Sundance State Bank in Sundance; from Gifts, Thrifts and -Ifts in Moorcroft; or from Mercantile 307 in Hulett.

The fee to participate as a vendor is $10, which includes a listing in the physical and online directories, advertising of the event and an official sign to post at your location to attract those bargain hunters to make a pit stop.

Signs will be available from June 7. The deadline to apply as a vendor is May 28; applications forms can be mailed along with the fee to Sundance Chamber, PO Box 1004, Sundance 82729.
