Continuing the Crook County News Since 1884
Dear Editor,
I just returned from the impressive SHS performance of the musical “Flapper” which compelled me to write my first letter to the editor, one which I have been thinking about for several months. I know firsthand as both a director and a cast member the amount of work and dedication that goes into putting on a performance such as this. I also know that that it had to take the administration, entire staff and students in the school to produce such a quality performance!
Kudos to Teresa Priesner and Mr. Gillis! The smile under my mask during the entire performance was only supplanted by watery eyes upon the curtain call.
In all the negativity surrounding the pandemic, true greatness has shone through for some. I have witnessed firsthand the incredible dedication by the educators in our town and throughout Wyoming and South Dakota. Their drive to get creative, be innovative, adapt to changes and do whatever it takes to educate our young people is unbelievable!
To the bus drivers, custodial staff, cooks, support staff, administration and teachers, I thank you! All of your efforts to educate do not go unnoticed!!
Our educators are in drastic contrast to some examples we’ve seen, specifically in other parts of the country, which is quite disturbing, as they too are supposed to be educators. Having been an educator for 37 years, I have to say they are embarrassing. This crazy pandemic year has truly brought out the best in our local educators and support staff and they make me proud to have been in the profession!
Please be sure to thank any and all who have a hand in educating the youth in our little corner of the world!
