Florence Singleton

Florence Singleton, 67 of Hulett, Wyoming, passed away on February 10, 2021 at Monument Health in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Florence Ann Margret Martinez Singleton was born on Jan 10, 1954, to Abenicio (Benny) Martinez and Alivra (Vira) Juanita Trujillo Martinez. Florence was born and raised in the area of Shoshoni, Wyoming.

She was the youngest of three sisters and loved being the baby. She graduated from Shoshoni High School and went on to study at CWC.

Florence met the love of her life Dave (Robert) Singleton and had her daughters Carmen and Nikki. The family then moved to Hulett where Florence spent most of her life, with a short time in Gillette, Wyoming. Her son Bobby was born while living in Hulett. Bennie came while living in Gillette.

Florence had the hugest heart and family meant the world to her. She devoted her life to taking care of others, even to a point of worrying herself sick. Even when told to relax she still felt the need to take care of her family, including her close friends she adopted as family.

Friends were also a big part of Florence’s life. They will all remember her kind heart, positive attitude and generosity. Florence was a rock and inspiration to all who knew her.

Other than spending time with friends and family Florence enjoyed crafting, nature drives, cookouts and her peaceful country life.

Florence is survived by her husband, Robert David Singleton; sister, Mary Ann (Steven) Martinez Holmquist; her Tia Peewee; daughters, Carmen (Tim) Harrison and Cora Nicole Milledge; son Robert David Singleton; grandchildren, Cora, Lili, Jane, Ben, Drew and Scout; great-grandchildren, Joson and Crimson. Plus, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and adopted family members.

Florence is preceded in death by her parents, Benny and Vira Martinez; son, Bennie Lee Singleton; sister, Stella Martinez Duran; mother-in-law, Amy Singleton who became a second mother to her.

Memorial services will be held at the Hulett Civic Center at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 20. Potluck will follow.
