“Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water?” – John 4:11
Can you live your life both quickly and deeply? Blowing through life, hoping something of substance or significance will stick? Is it wise? Is it clever or crippling? Living but losing your life and all that is precious along the way?
Quick has become a way of existing for many and the resulting solitariness that turns itself into loneliness is apparent. We all must be aware of the depth of life provided by the Giver of life.
Quick living is rarely quiet and provides the general appearance of success. The resulting busyness revolts abiding and harms the areas where we learn valuable lessons and develop meaningful relationships.
This hasty lifestyle easily destroys unshakeable foundations as it cannot recognize what is or is not important. Desensitizing to goodness you become a master or subject of evil. Superficial is shaky at best and leaves no mark or meaning.
Also, speedy living is shallow, has little substance and cannot relate to the soul and motivate the individual. Objects of our responsibilities are obscured, and misery becomes the only option and a relied upon solution.
Most issues lack identity with the impending realization that we cannot provide everyone nothing and expect something in return. Trusting relationships can never be broken as they do not have the chance to be established, much less flourish.
Deeply is sincere and time sensitive as it occupies the space of our spirit with what is necessary. Quick is often flung and furious. It doesn’t stay around, never allowing anything of old to become new and known.
Jesus realized this and spent his life transforming a common position into visible action. He spent what little time he had making the greatest impact He could. Simple, purposeful moments that provided deep, personal lessons for all.
What narrative gives your life coherence? Is it something you attempt to fix on your own speedy agenda? Or rather applying what was ascertained in your deepening moments with God?
Don’t be so quick to determine the finer edges of reality without the depth of love God has for your soul. The push and shove of life has a complexity that God alone addresses. A process (sanctification) that is always moving forward even when it all appears backwards and inside out. Walking with God just plain works
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. – 1 Cor. 2:10
Slowing it down,
