New ambulance arrives

Crook County Medical Services District has taken ownership of a sorely needed new ambulance thanks to a CARES Act grant from the State Lands and Investments Board. The vehicle will boost the ability of Sundance’s fleet to both respond to emergencies and transfer patients to larger hospitals outside of the county.

At the same time, CCMSD has announced that the agency once known as Sundance EMS will be given a new name to better reflect its service model and clarify its role within the community and with healthcare partners throughout the county and region. Going forward, it will be known as the Crook County Medical Services District Emergency Medical Services (or CCMSD EMS).

The new ambulance replaces the leased vehicle that the board of trustees brought in on a temporary basis earlier this year, when it became clear that the available ambulances were no longer able to sustain a functional EMS service.

The newly arrived vehicle is built on a Dodge Ram 4500 chassis with state-of-the-art rear suspension, designed with safety and ergonomics in mind and patient care as its priority. Attendant seating in the patient compartment is designed to maximize the ability to provide care while remaining seated and secured as much as possible.

CCMSD EMS acknowledges the contributions of the board of trustees and CEO Micki Lyons to secure the ambulance, SLIB for understanding the need for the grant application, Arrow Ambulances for their professional attention to detail, timeliness and quality and EMS consultant Bob Waddell.
