Election results now official

The unofficial results from last week’s primary have now become official, says County Clerk Linda Fritz. The canvas board met on Friday to verify the ballots and found there were no changes to the winning candidates as announced on the night of the election.

Only one race was close enough to warrant an automatic recount: the Republican precinct committeewoman seat for precinct 14-14 Hulett Inside. This was necessary because there was a less than 1% difference between the votes received by the two candidates.

Following a hand recount, the winner was confirmed to be Audrey Ebsen with 63 votes, as announced on election night.

Several candidates will appear on November’s ballot for the general election as a result of successful write-in votes. The first is Calvin McCrea, who received three votes to stand for Moorcroft council member.

The remaining candidates are for precinct committeemen and women and are as follows: for the Republican Party, Carol Thomas for 15-15 Pine Haven, Chuck Tesch for 15-15 Pine Haven, Dana Blakeman for 18-01 Moorcroft West Side.

For the Democratic Party, Joe Baron for 01-02 Sundance Inside South, Rod Knudson for 14-14 Hulett Inside, Tammy Baron for 01-02 Sundance Inside South, Katy King for 02-02 Sundance Outside.
