Mary Isadora Johnson

Mary Isadora Johnson, 86 of Moorcroft, Wyoming, formerly of Spearfish and Lake Norden, South Dakota, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at the Crook County Nursing Home in Sundance, Wyoming.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2020, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Moorcroft. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. central standard time on Friday, August 21, 2020, in the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church Cemetery at Lake Norden.

Mary I. Johnson was born on December 10, 1933, in Moorcroft, the daughter of Waldon and Isadora (Roberts) Blakeman.

Mary spent her early years and received her education in rural school in Wyoming, Yacolt and Battle Ground, Washington, until moving with her parents to Vale, Oregon, where she graduated in 1953. After receiving her education, she was employed for two years at the U.S. National Bank in Vale, Oregon, then two years at the Citizen’s bank in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

She was united in marriage to E. Eldon Johnson on February 3, 1958 in Nyssa, Oregon. After they married, they moved to a farm near Bryant, South Dakota, where they farmed until Eldon’s death on May 3, 1994.

Mary was employed for 17 years as a home health aide for the State of South Dakota. Mary moved to Hayti, South Dakota in 1994 until 1997 and was employed at the Lake Norden Care Center until she retired.

She stayed in Hayti until 2004 when she moved to Spearfish until 2010, when she moved to Moorcroft. In 2015 she moved to the nursing home in Sundance, where she passed away August 15, 2020.

Mary was a lifetime member of Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.

Mary is survived by one son, Edwin Johnson and his wife Linda of Moorcroft; three grandchildren, Amber Staricha of Palmer, Alaska, Joleen Staricha (Steve) of Calumet, Michigan, Coleen Waliezer (Kevin) of Duluth, Minnesota; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Ester Jolma of Marengo, Wisconsin and Edith Ek of Kalispell, Montana; and one brother, Silas Blakeman (Mary) of Marengo.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eldon; her mother and father, Waldon and Isadora Blakeman (Mick and Peggy); two granddaughters, Kay and Shona Johnson; six sisters; and three brothers.
