In the United States senate a few days ago the word “voluntary” in the army reorganization bill pending before congress for so many months. Thus compulsory training of youths for military service seems to be defeated.
A.A. Helmer of Government Valley was attending to business matters in town yesterday. Mr. Helmer followed farming and cattle raising for many years with commendable success, but has more recently devoted his attention to sheep and wool in connection with his farming operations. He has great confidence in the little woolies as money makers with proper care.
Farrall people are all busy preparing for spring work. It will be late getting wheat planted, for the unsettled weather doesn’t let the ground get dry enough to be worked.

Site of the Crook County Honor Roll, which will be placed on the northwest corner of courthouse square, was fixed by County Surveyor Damon Cole Tuesday. Rough materials have been assembled and the work on the base for the memorial will begin very soon.
Simple funeral services were held Saturday from the east room of the White House for Franklin Delano Roosevelt who was stricken suddenly with a cerebral hemorrhage Thursday afternoon while at Warm Springs, Ga. He was laid to rest Sunday afternoon at Hyde Park, his beautiful estate along the banks of the Hudson river.
Operating equipment of the Davis hospital has been moved to the Beagle home where Mrs. Beagle, a registered nurse, will continue hospital facilities. She will have bed space for about five patients.
In a transaction which was completed this Saturday, Earl Kipp of Sundance purchased the Commercial theater machines from Mrs. E.L. Raeburn of Long Beach, California. For the present he plans to continue the same schedule for his shows that has been used for some time with one show a week given Saturday and Sundays.

Bear Lodge FFA chapter adviser Dick Hubbard said this week that the chapter’s annual carnival Friday night will be bigger and better than ever before. Hubbard said the prizes offered this year are the best the chapter has ever offered.
Coach Earl Gray’s Sundance junior high matmen, with five individual champions, won the northeast district Class B wrestling tournament held in Sundance Saturday. Kelly Proctor, 136 lb. champion, was named the outstanding wrestler of the tournament by the seven coaches and two officials. In his junior high career, Proctor has scored 40 wins in a row, 37 of them by pins. In addition to Proctor, other Sundance champions were Wayne Glick, 96 lbs.; Doug Livingston, 128; Jerry Engelhaupt, 144; and David Canfield, heavyweight.

Zeb Humphrey, Sundance fifth grader was chosen as the state winner in the 1995 Arbor Day Poster Contest. This poster has been sent to the National Arbor Day Foundation to cpmpete with other state winners for the national award.
Kenneth B. (Mike) Bush recently received a 35-year service award from the Wyoming Department of Transportation. Bush, a maintenance foreman for the past 25 years, joined the department as a maintainer in Hulett in 1960.
