Raise funds for Special Olympics with an icy dip at the Jackalope Jump
The waters of Keyhole Reservoir are only for the truly brave at this time of year – but that’s exactly why the annual Jackalope Jump is not only a popular event for spectators and jumpers alike, but also an excellent opportunity to raise funds for Special Olympics Wyoming.
The concept is simple: teams of participants will leap from the marina into the freezing waters of the lake, earning money for the cause in the process. The only difficult part is mustering the bravery to take that icy plunge.
“The Jackalope Jump is a unique opportunity for individuals, organizations and businesses to raise much needed funds for Special Olympics Wyoming athletes at the local, area and state level by taking an icy dip into freezing waters,” says Kassie Clements, Adapted Physical Education for Crook County School District.
“Money raised goes to Crook County Special Olympics and to Wyoming Special Olympics.”
Each jumper must raise a minimum of $100 to earn the privilege of taking the plunge (or $50 each if joining as a team of five or more people).
However, jumpers are welcome to raise additional funds and earn extra incentives along the way.
“Events like the Jackalope Jumps help support over 1900 Special Olympics Wyoming athletes,” says Clements.
The event begins on March 28 at Keyhole State Park Marina at noon, with the jump itself beginning at 1 p.m.
Soup and hot cocoa will be provided afterwards for all attendees.
