The Sundance boys hosted the Moorcroft Wolves in the first conference meeting of the season. Sundance jumped out to a quick start putting full court pressure on the Wolves and feeding off the energy it created.
Moorcroft got four points on the board pretty quick, but Sundance scored 18 unanswered points through the first quarter to take a 22-9 lead after eight minutes of play. The second quarter of play saw a little more even scoring between the two teams as each side settled down and found the basket within their offense. At the break, the Sundance Bulldogs were up by twelve, 35-23.
As the third quarter of play opened up, the Moorcroft Wolves became familiar with the free-throw line, going five for eight, for their only points of the quarter. The Bulldogs, on the other hand, continued to widen the gap, behind the scoring of Lane Gill and Gunner McLaughlin who scored 20 and 17 points respectively, and increasing their lead 55-28 with only eight minutes of play left.
As the fourth played out, the Bulldog defense stepped up. Holding the Wolves to only two points, the Sundance Bulldogs were able to claim the conference win with a 69-30 victory.
On Saturday, the Bulldogs hosted the Lusk Tigers. Opening up much as they left off against Moorcroft, the Bulldog offense found their groove and continued to put points on the board.
It was Kye Taylor who led the Bulldogs for the night, scoring a season high 28 points and going five for eight from behind the three-point line. Fellow teammate Lane Gill was also in double digits, scoring 14 points and pulling down nine rebounds.
Starting the second half with a 33-18 lead, the Bulldogs continued to widen the gap until the fourth quarter. Opening the fourth quarter with a 9-0 run and some full court pressure, the Lusk Tigers were able to gain some momentum as well as in points.
Sundance then called a timeout in hopes of slowing that momentum and turning it back in their favor and Taylor was able to do just that. Sinking a shot from behind the arc, the Bulldogs were back in stride and able to walk off the floor with a 65-51 victory over the Lusk Tigers.
With this win, the Sundance Bulldogs move to 13-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference. With a light week this week, the Bulldogs will host the Tongue River Eagles on Friday.
