The crowd packed in the Sundance High School Gym for a full night of fun as the Sundance basketball teams and FCCLA hosted Family Fun Night on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs opened up the night of play hosting conference rival Big Horn.
The Lady Bulldogs and Rams got off to a slow start in the first quarter trying to figure each other out while trying to get their own offenses moving. At the end of the first eight minutes, it was a tied game at 11 points each.
The second quarter saw the Bulldogs get their offense moving, scoring seven unanswered points, causing Big Horn to call a timeout in hopes of slowing the Bulldog momentum. The small break in play helped the Rams regroup and begin to close the gap 19-20, however the Bulldogs were able to string together four more points before the half and hold onto the lead 24-19 into the break.
The third quarter saw the Bulldogs continue to increase their lead. Opening up with an 8-0 run the Sundance girls did not back down.
The Bulldog defense was on their ‘A’ game as well, holding the Rams to just four points in the third quarter. As the final eight minutes of play began, the Rams threw on a full court press in hopes of closing the gap.
The pressure rattled the Bulldogs, causing multiple turnovers, however Big Horn was unable to capitalize on those opportunities and the Bulldogs were able to maintain their lead to take the 46-34 conference victory.
The Lady Bulldogs walked away with another conference win on Thursday in Wright. Holding the Panthers to four points in the first half, the Bulldogs took control and did not let go as they easily walked away with a 57-18 victory.
Sitting with a 2-0 record in the conference, the lady Bulldogs look to add on to their winning streak as they host intracounty rival, the Moorcroft Wolves, on Tuesday and the Lusk Tigers on Saturday.
