Bulldogs at Newell and PRC Tourney
The #3 ranked Sundance boys’ basketball team hit the road this past week for a game against Newell on Thursday and participated in the Powder River Conference Invite Friday and Saturday in Tongue River and Kaycee. Their weekend kicked off in Newell on Thursday where they ran away with the game in a 71-34 victory.
On Friday, the Bulldogs competed in the Powder River Conference Invite where they lost the first game to Kaycee 48-59. The Bulldogs then rebounded from that loss with a 61-18 victory over Wright and capped off the Invite playing Arvada Clearmont and taking another easy 40-15 victory.
There is no rest for the weary as the Sundance Bulldogs will travel to Sheridan to take on the NSI Wolves on Friday (JV boys) and travel to Hill City to face the Rangers on Saturday.

Lady Bulldogs at Powder River Conference Tourney
The Sundance girls’ basketball team hit the floor for the first time in two weeks on Friday as they participated in the Powder River Conference Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs knocked the dust off their shoes in the first game, facing off against the Natrona Freshmen.
Trailing by five at the half, the Bulldogs found their stride in the second half. Sherry Negaard led the way for the Bulldogs scoring 15 points and pulling down 12 rebounds in their 46-35 victory.
For their second game on Friday night, the Lady Bulldogs were up against the Kaycee Buckaroos. It was Aftyn Marchant who found the spark for the Bulldogs and could not be stopped as she scored a team high 20 points. Despite the scoring prowess of Marchant, the Bulldogs fell to the Buckaroos down the stretch, by one point with a final score of 34-35.
Concluding tournament play on Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs fell to Arvada-Clearmont in another nail-biter. Free throws was a determining factor in this overtime game.
The two teams combined shot a total of 62 free throws throughout the five quarters of play. The Lady Bulldogs went 13 for 25, 52 percent while the Panthers went 21 for 37, 57 percent, 11 of those 37 being shot in the overtime play. While the Lady Bulldogs gave it their best effort, they fell short by three points, 42-45.
The Sundance girls will have another busy week ahead of them as they host Harding County on Thursday, travel Sheridan to play NSI on Friday and travel to Hill City on Saturday.
