Going up against some tough teams in the Stateline Shootout, the Sundance girls’ basketball team fell short in their games this past weekend.
The Newcastle Dogies were in town on Thursday as the Lady Bulldogs opened up the first round of play in the Stateline Shootout. The Bulldogs struggled against an aggressive half-court press put on by the Dogies and were not able to get on the board until 4:10 left in the first quarter.
The second quarter didn’t fare much better as turnovers and fouls continued to plague the Lady Bulldogs. Trailing by eight going into the half, the Bulldogs needed to find some momentum for the second half of play.
While Sundance was able to make some buckets in the second half, the Dogies continued to make more as they went on to the 40-29 victory over the Bulldogs.
Day two of the Stateline Shootout put the Lead-Deadwood Diggers on the court against the Bulldogs. In a low scoring game, the Diggers were able to defeat the Bulldogs 37-25.
Saturday brought the Bulldogs another tough game as they faced off against the Belle Fourche Broncs. While they gave it their best effort again, the Lady Bulldogs fell short as they lost to the Broncs 29-50.
The Lady Bulldogs will try to reverse their outcomes in the Powder River Conference Tournament on the 10-11th of January.
