Sundance resident Amber Nehmer has been given a suspended sentence for charges related to an incident in which law enforcement was informed she was using and selling drugs while children were present in her home.
On April 2, a Crook County Sheriff’s Office deputy executed a search warrant at a Sundance residence after receiving information about narcotic use and sales on the premises while children were present.
On entering the building, the deputy reports he was able to confirm the presence of children and saw a bong on the kitchen table along with several dispensary containers of marijuana. Nehmer was asked to remain seated in the living room area while the house was searched.
According to the deputy’s affidavit, Nehmer became very upset and began moving around while seated on the couch. He states that she appeared to be attempting to hide items in the seat of the couch.
Nehmer allegedly then stood up and began walking to the kitchen area. The deputy asked her to sit back down, but reports she continued to walk to the kitchen and appeared to be trying to remove something from her pocket.
The deputy reports that he placed a hand on Nehmer and advised her to stop, but she pulled away and attempted to move towards the kitchen.
“Amber became combative and was placed on the ground by use of empty hand controls as I was attempting to place her in handcuffs,” the deputy reports. Nehmer allegedly continued to refuse to comply but eventually calmed enough to be placed in handcuffs and transported to the Crook County Detention Center.
The search was then executed and allegedly revealed 3.34 ounces of marijuana in plant form, three cell phones, a weighing scale with marijuana residue, a black lock box containing weighing scales with white residue, small plastic baggies containing what appeared to be methamphetamine residue, a smoking pipe and other drug-related paraphernalia.
In the couch where Nehmer had been sitting, the deputy allegedly located three baggies of marijuana packaged in very similar weights suggesting they were for resale. He also reports that he found cash totaling $328. A witness interviewed by the deputy claimed that Nehmer had provided her with methamphetamine on March 27.
Nehmer pled guilty to one charge of delivery of a controlled substance and one of child endangerment. She was sentenced to between four and six years in jail and $1500 in fines, with all but the 90 days of jail time already served to be suspended pending completion of five years of supervised probation.
