Great showing for Bulldog wrestlers in season opener

Haiar takes first at Tiger Invite

Members of the Sundance wrestling team participated in the Tiger Invitational in Lusk on Friday. Two Bulldog wrestlers placed in the top five of their weight classes.

Owen Haiar took first place in the 126 lb. weight class. In the opening rounds, Haiar took wins against Tyzer Isenberger (Moorcroft), Thomas Wagner (H.E.M.) Jonathan Morgan (Newcastle/Upton).

In the championship bracket, Haiar pinned Patrick Hamling of Newell in 35 seconds. With this win, he was up against Jonathan Morgan of Newcastle / Upton for the second time. Haiar took the championship match by pin in 2:23.

The second Bulldog to place in the top five was Leo Lyons, who took fourth place in the 195 lb. weight class. In the opening round, Lyons fell to Rowdy Pfeil of Moorcroft but was able to bounce back and win the next three rounds over Harvey Wesley (Hay Springs), Logan Westover (Hulett) and Joseph Bora (H.E.M.) putting him in the third-place round against Cade Griffitts of Glenrock. In the end, Lyons fell to Griffitts and placed fourth for his weight class.

Out of the 16 teams which competed in the Tiger Invitational, the Sundance Bulldogs placed seventh with 94 team points. The Bulldog wrestlers will compete in the Wright Holiday Duels on December 21 in Wright.
