Purposed

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all” (Ecclesiastes 12:13).

The Book of Ecclesiastes was written by King Solomon, who could be considered the wisest man who has ever lived. It provides information relating to the futility of life apart from God and directs people to seek true happiness in Him alone. I have taken ten personal observations from this book to encourage you through this limbo we call life.

1. Pleasure will always come but will never last.

2. Wrong motives will always lead away from God. (Bad directions).

3. Without God, life’s problems have no lasting solutions.

4. Human wisdom is good at producing cynicism, bitterness, distrust, doubt, pessimism and sarcasm.

5. Each day must be lived for its own value.

6. Pride appeals to the empty head.

7. If you hope to make it through days of disillusionment and times of trouble the secret is friendship.

8. Without trust your soul will become impoverished.

9. When we realize God’s power, we understand He is sufficient to handle all that life throws at us.

10. Everything apart from God is empty, hollow and meaningless.

Solomon in all his wisdom left us with the conclusion that no matter the mysteries and apparent contradictions of life, we must work toward the single purpose of knowing God.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction” (Proverbs 1:7).
