Free barbecue and queen contest Sunday

There will be a free barbecue sponsored by the Hulett Roping Club, Sun., Sept., 29. Food will be served between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

This barbecue is their way of saying thank you to all the people who help and all of those who work to put on the Hulett Rodeo. This includes the community, sponsors, spectators and all of those who work to put on the Hulett Rodeo.

Served at the barbecue will be steak (cooked over an open pit), beans, chips, biscuits and gravy, cookies, juice and coffee. Please bring your own table service and time to visit with your neighbor.

There will be a queen contest for all interested young ladies between the ages of 12 and 21, who will be asked to compete in the barrels, poles and cattle penning. The winner will represent the Hulett Rodeo in the parade before the 2020 Hulett Rodeo, at the rodeo, at the barbecue and at any other event they wish to attend.

The queen contest will follow the annual meeting of the Hulett Roping Club, which will be at 1:30 p.m. All Roping Club members are encouraged to attend as is anyone interested in joining the club. General business and election of officers will take place at this meeting.

There will also be a playday with barrels and poles if we have any interest. Call President Terry Goodvin at 467-5668, Secretary Karen Dirks at 467-5929 or any other Roping Club member for more information.
