Cross Country team heads to Belle Fourche

The wind and rain did not stop the Sundance Cross Country team this past Thursday as they competed in Belle Fourche. The junior high division saw some stiff competition as the boys ran against 148 runners and the girls competed against 158.

Angel Villegas was the first to cross the line for the Bulldogs in the 6/7th grade race, placing 37th with a time of 14:02. Deklan Gill finished in 15th in the 8th grade competition coming in with a time of 12:55. On the girls’ side, Rylie Marchant and Brit Wheeler continue to be neck and neck, as they finished in 12th and 13th followed by Jordan Mouat and Riley Banker.

In the varsity boys’ competition, a trio of Bulldogs finished within minutes of each other. Hunter Skeens, Jayden Davis and Titus Schelling crossed the line in 22nd, 25th and 29th. The girls varsity race had two Bulldogs competing as Tori Wheeler was the first to come in at 32nd followed by Darcy Flahaven who came in 51st.

The runners will get some time to rest as their next competition will be on September 27th at the Rapid City Invitational.
