Chapel of Faith

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Is. 6:1

I spy a sadness in the land. One that if not comprehended and dealt with will cripple humanity. It is a real sullenness, masquerading as pleasure while hollowing out the soul and leaving us with nothing tangible to hold or hope for.

The attack is personal, extreme and tends to grip our lives without providing any chance for escape. I also know a God who sees the sadness and only He has the permanent solution.

Sadness comes when simplicity of life in Christ is sidestepped. We must see that we cannot be the final authority in our living without any reference to God.

This is not anything new, as rebelling against God goes all the way back to the Garden of Eden. What makes it more noticeable is the speed in which we realize that nothing satisfies.

Solomon wrote about it extensively in the Book of Ecclesiastes and people fail to realize that this rebellion is against their own self interests. It’s inconspicuous and outwardly apparent.

This depth of despair is punctuated by a false pretense of happiness and the illusion that we must be entertained, coddled and constantly feel good. This counterfeit reality prohibits the entry into the joy that God desires to provide to all who come to Him with an open heart.

Chuck Colson stated: “Life is a mess. And theology must be lived out in the midst of that mess.” The things that happen to us do matter and can stagger our worldview. These are hypothetical situations that change to painful realities where fragile human dignity may be strengthen through resistance and blind courage if viewed through Christ.

I spy a Christian faith that is all about discovering the truth about who God is and what He is doing in the world. That realizes hope is exposed through repentance and His grace, aligning ourselves to that truth.

Good intentioned thoughts will not alleviate the depth of despair that the devil cultivates in the soul of those who drift from the absolute love of God. May you be a person who seeks out the true and living God.

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Psalm 34:8
