July 9, 1919
Many of our people are naturally much interested in the time when actual construction work will begin on the Sundance-Beulah section of state highway. County Commissioner Thompson states the contract provides that work shall begin July 15, but some misunderstand with regard to the right-of-way had developed and it appears now unlikely perhaps that the operations can be started in the time.
It is said a wild west show of some proportions and necessity will be pulled off at the old B Bar ranch in Red Canyon near Sunday when the beginning to tame a number of wild ones is to be made. The rules are said to be that any buster who loses his seat and gets up from the ground without still having the firm grip on both hands full of leather shall be disqualified from further exhibition.

July 13, 1944
Two youths from Crook County, both in the same division have been reported wounded in the invasion of France. Word was received this week that Clyde Raber was seriously wounded June 12. None of the details have been learned to date. Herbet C. Hutchins of Sundance suffered a leg wound in the early days of the invasion of France, he has notified his mother, Mrs. Anna Hutchins.
Lester E. Bernd, photographer’s mate 1-c, took hundreds of pictures of the invasion while on naval patrol during the invasion and is now back home in Sundance visiting his parents while on leave. Lester, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Bernd, has put in two years in sea duty. During the invasion he was a member of the naval air wing whose duty it was to keep enemy submarines from surfacing and to sink all possible.

July 10, 1969
Teams of the Byrne Williams and Bill Durfee and Loretta Durfee and Alan Roberts tied for first place with scores of 46 during the summer’s first ball and chain tourney held at the Sundance Golf Club.
A Crook County girl, Linda Simons, Beulah, was among the winners Sunday in the Western Gateway quarterhorse show at Newcastle. Linda placed first in the brood mare and brood mare and cold classes with Chili Friday and an unnamed colt.

Installation of new playground equipment is currently underway in the Sundance city park. Kiwanis Club member Joe Baron said the next work session at the park will be held Thursday at 5:30 p.m. He said volunteer work is badly needed. Baron said more playground equipment is expected to be ordered.
Sundance’s newest business has an unusual twist. Its owners, Brittany and Jaimee Wales, are 15 and 12 years old. The girls are learning first hand about borrowing money, purchasing supplies and equipment, hiring employees, and all of the myriad of duties of small business owners.
