A Gillette man faces assault charges after allegedly attacking a female victim at Keyhole Reservoir earlier this month. John Bosh fled the scene after the victim called for help from three male witnesses.
A Wyoming Parks Ranger was dispatched in response to a 911 call to an incident near the dam at Keyhole on June 2 at around 12:44 p.m. The caller allegedly stated that a woman was shouting for someone to call the police and two male suspects were running away from her, one of them covered in blood.
Two Wyoming Game Wardens and two Sheriff’s Office Deputies also responded to the call, according to the ranger’s affidavit, and Pine Haven EMS was paged. The wardens and deputy who arrived on scene first were unable to locate the male suspects but did make contact with the 911 caller and two other witnesses.
From initial witness statements, it was thought that Bosh may have left the area in a friend’s vehicle; however, as this could not be confirmed, a search of the area was conducted to determine whether Bosh had fled on foot.
Meanwhile, the three witnesses described seeing Bosh chase the female victim from the end of the point across from the camping points to a restroom, a distance of approximately one quarter mile. The female locked herself inside and Bosh allegedly began hitting and kicking the door until he had broken the vent area on the lower part of the door and was able to gain access to the bathroom.
The witnesses described seeing Bosh and the female victim exit the bathroom a short time later; Bosh then allegedly escorted the female towards the witnesses. As they approached the witnesses, the female allegedly yelled for help and pulled away from Bosh.
The female ran to one of the witnesses, who put her in his truck while another witness chased Bosh away. The victim allegedly told one of the witnesses that Bosh had choked her out inside the restroom until she blacked out and had also beaten her.
The victim was treated by an EMT and then transported to the Crook County Memorial Hospital. Inside the bathroom, the ranger noted broken glass on the floor, scattered blood spots and a cell phone broken into several pieces.
During an interview at the hospital, the victim confirmed the statements of the witnesses and informed the ranger that Bosh had broken through the door, punched her several times in the face and taken her to the ground, where he put his hands on her throat and applied pressure until she lost consciousness. Bosh allegedly stated he was going to kill the victim and forced her to return to the car by threat of continued violence.
Bosh faces felony charges of aggravated assault and battery and assault by applying pressure to the throat or neck, as well as misdemeanor charges of domestic battery, interference with emergency calls and property destruction under $1000.
