Readers of all ages will explore the universe this summer as Crook County Library presents “A Universe of Stories” summer library program. Activities may include group projects, games, art projects, STEM and STEAM experiments and more.
The 2019 Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool through young adult. The library will host an initial kick-off registration on Monday June 3 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. to sign up and get a summer reading bag with a reading log, calendar of events, bookmark, Applebees certificate and NASA sticker.
Registration is open throughout the program, stop by the library anytime. All ages can read June 3 through July 29 to earn prizes.
Activities/storytime for preschool-kindergarten will be Wednesdays in June at 10:30 a.m. They include “A Sky Full of Stories”, “Shoot for the Moon”, “Soaring Spaceships” and “Out of This World”.
Activities for students in first through sixth grade will be Wednesdays, July 10, 17 and 31 at 10:30 a.m. Movies are scheduled for Thursdays, June 6, 20 and July 11 at 1 p.m. and will be appropriate for all ages.
Maker Days will be July 1 and 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. with the library providing all the supplies for an afternoon of creativity for all ages. There will be an outdoor movie on July 18 at sundown (approx. 8:37 p.m.).
We will conclude our program with night sky viewings on August 1 and 12 at 9 p.m. Please bring binoculars or a telescope if you have either. We are also looking for people with telescopes to help on these evenings.
