April 30, 1919

Mr. Bronson of the Powers Auto Company conducted a demonstration of the Fordson tractor at the Waters ranch on Benton creek last Saturday, said to be a fine success and resulting in the sale of three complete outfits of the Fordson and plows to progressive ranchers of that locality.

Rep. Elbridge Ball was the victim of an accident at the Rocky Ford ranch last Friday of which his many friends were very much pained to learn. He was on horseback and had a steer roped in the branding corral when it is said the rope caught him in such manner as to jerk him from the saddle and at the same time the horse was thrown up on him, badly crushing his leg. It was at first reported very questionable whether or not his leg could be saved from amputation on account of the badly splintered bones but reports yesterday from the Deadwood hospital were more encouraging and that in all probability he would not lose the injured member. He was resting as well as could be expected.

May 4, 1944

At the convention of the Republican County Central Committee of Crook County, Irven Hejde of Aladdin, A.W. Storm of Hulett, and Otis Reynolds, Edwin Rounds and Clyde D. Roberts of Sundance were chosen delegates to the Republican State Convention to be held at Casper.

Saturday, May 13, was proclaimed Poppy Day in Sundance by Mayor C.D. Roberts in a proclamation issued today. The Mayor called upon all citizens to observe the day by wearing memorial poppies in honor of the men who have given their lives in the nation's defense.

May 1, 1969

The Elk Horn Café, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Carl Olson since 1962 has been purchased by Mr. and Mr.Logan Brimmer. Mrs. Brimmer had previously operated the restaurant for 20 years from 1942-62, before selling it to the Olsons. Olson's ill health led to the sale of the business.

Two members of Sundance Cadette Girl Scout Troop 13 have been selected to participate in the 1969 Conservation Camp at Sybille Game Preserve. They are Jeanne Ulrich, daughter of MSgt and Mrs. Robert Ulrich, and Jill Allen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Allen.

Candidates announce: Sheriff Cris Mellott announced he will be seeking re-election as Crook County Sheriff. Clerk of the District Court Charlotte Mellott announced this week she will seek a second term in office. Raymond Kaehne announced he is a candidate for Crook County Sheriff on the Republican ticket.

Two subdivision proposals were discussed. The City Council agreed to accept phase I of the subdivision development planned by Doug and Kelley Carter. There were told they would have to get it developed before the City will accept it. Their proposal is for a development between the Log Cabin Café and the new Forest Service building. A second proposed subdivision layout was presented by Jim Durfee. Durfee wants a review of the plans and comments on it, as to design acceptability. That plot lies east of 21st Street and north of the Sundance Trade Center.
