Continuing the Crook County News Since 1884
For those who took part in the blood draws – and for those who did not, too – the annual Crook County Medical Services District Health Fair this weekend will not only be a chance to pick up your results, but also to visit with healthcare providers, services and other wellness-related vendors.
“We have lots of different avenues and we try to do total body health and wellness. We try to include spiritual wellness, financial wellness, not just your blood results,” says organizer Naomi Jacobson.
“We really want you to feel like you’ve got everything, because there’s so much more to your health than just your bloodwork.”
Among the vendors confirmed so far are Healing Hearts Home Health; Young Living essential oils; Hill Country Healing non-invasive spiritual healing; Vilas Pharmacy; Runyan Chiropractic; Sundance State Bank for information on health savings accounts; Crook County Library; Bearlodge Rehabilitation; Sundance Police Department; and the Masonic Lodge.
“Public Health is going to be there and they are going to be doing a drug take-back program,” Jacobson adds.
“You can bring any unused medications and they will accept them. That’s a new thing.”
Of course, the district itself will be present in the form of clinicians and healthcare providers. If you took part in the blood draws, as always you will be able to collect your results at the fair.
If you can’t make it, says Jacobson, your results will be mailed to you on the following Monday morning.
Passport cards will be available at the fair again this year, offering guests the chance to win some covetable prizes.
“The passport cards are basically like a bingo card. As you visit booths, they check them off, and that’s how you enter to win the door prizes,” says Jacobson.
“This year, the door prizes include a gift card to the Buffalo Jump and another year’s park pass through the National Parks Service.”
In total, she says, three or four prizes will be available and guests will choose which prize they would like to enter their passport card to win. Meanwhile, visitors can also expect to walk away from the fair far from empty handed.
“We’re going to have lots of goodies to hand out for everyone,” she says. “There’s going to be lots of free gear and stuff that people will be passing out.”
The blood draws remain as popular as ever, Jacobson says, and numbers are comparable to last year.
“It’s nice that we are maintaining what we are doing and all the communities are telling us they are very happy with how it’s going,” she says.
The health fair will take place from 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday in the gym at Sundance High School.
