Lincoln Day Dinner attracts crowd

The annual Lincoln Day Dinner attracted 200 guests on Saturday evening to enjoy a meal, auction, time with like-minded friends and speeches from several Wyoming dignitaries. The evening was a particular success, says Roger Connett, Chairman of the Crook County Republican Party.

"It was a great night," says Connett. "The evening went well, the auction was a success and the food was great. All in all, it was a really good event."

The evening's speakers included Governor Mark Gordon, U.S. Senator Mike Enzi and Colonel Mike Pullen, all of whom Connett says were well received.

“The governor’s speech was very good and well received and for Colonel Pullen we got rave reviews,” Connett says.

“Mike Enzi wasn’t scheduled to speak, but of course we let him speak and say some good words to us.”

While the governor and senator both updated guests on current issues and plans for the future, Colonel Pullen’s topic was the concept of opportunity and making oneself ready to take chances when they present themselves.

Other special guests included Ed Buchanan, Secretary of State; Frank Eathorne, Chairman of the Wyoming Republican Party; and Keith Davidson, Chairman of the Wyoming Veteran’s Association.

State Treasurer Curt Meier and State Auditor Kristi Racines were invited to attend but unfortunately were unable to make it on the night.

The evening also included appreciation for Crook County’s military personnel, including large door prizes such as a smoker and BBQ specifically for military guests and a gift certificate to the Buffalo Jump in Beulah for all military attendees.

Connett is pleased with the enthusiasm of the community towards the annual gathering.

“It was great that everybody showed up,” says Connett. “We’re happy that we’re getting that kind of support.”
