Keyhole hosts ice rescue training

On March 13, the Crook County Sheriff's Office took part in an Ice Rescue training at Keyhole State Park. Sheriff's Office Deputies were joined by members of the Wyoming Game and Fish and Keyhole State Park.

The training is an eight-hour class instructed by Wyoming Game and Fish Warden John Davis and Crook County Sheriff's Office Undersheriff Todd Leimser. During this training, participants were presented with different scenarios that all required them to put on and use the rescue suits.

Each participant was required to perform an in-water rescue of a victim. During the training, they also learned the proper use of rescue disks and throw bags, which are primarily used during an on shore rescue, and were trained on the use of a rescue sled that is stationed at the Keyhole State Park headquarters.

The Crook County Sheriff's Office would like to remind members of the Crook County Search and Rescue that there will be an Ice Rescue training for members that can participate on March 30. The training will be held at the Keyhole State Park headquarters and will begin at 9:00 a.m.
