The Sundance High School wrestling team competed at the 2019 Regional Wrestling Tournament at Wright HS this past Saturday. The team finished in fifth place out of 11 teams in the event.
Individually, the team qualified nine of their ten wrestlers to this weekend’s state tournament. Of the nine qualifiers, six of them placed in the top four at the regional event. Those who qualified include:
Myles Stefanich, 113 lbs., 4th at regionals
Owen Haiar, 120 lbs., 3rd at regionals
Ben Tinsley, 132 lbs.
Titus Schelling, 138 lbs., 3rd at regionals
Oakley Viergets, 145 lbs., 4th at regionals
Josh Nehl, 160 lbs.
Leo Lyons, 170 lbs.
Gavin Robinson, 3rd at regionals
Dawson Flahaven, 4th at regionals
Also competing at regionals but falling one match short of qualifying was Payton Ewing at 145 lbs.
The grapplers will head to Casper on Thursday and compete at the State Championships on Friday and Saturday. Action begins Friday morning at the Casper Event Center at 9 a.m.
