February 12, 1919

Sweeping investigation of Bolshevik, I.W.W. and other propaganda was ordered unanimously yesterday by the senate after two hours of tempestuous discussion in which several senators declared that organizations were plotting to overthrow the American government by violence.

The matter of the board of county commissioners calling in all county road supervisors for the April meeting to have consultation and to systematize road work strikes all interested people as a mighty good move.

A.G. Powers , the Ford man of Belle Fourche, is among Sundance friends making some brief business talks on motor machines. He is enthusiastic over the Fordson tractor and thinks it is destined to do wonders in general light tractor service, basing his judgment, he says, on demonstrations and tests thoroughly made by himself and observation and reports from men to whom he has sold this type of iron horse.

February 10, 1944

Nipping the Gillette Camels by a score of 35 to 21 in Friday night’s play here the Sundance Bulldogs gained satisfaction for the defeat handed them by the Camels for the tri-county championship. Dudrey, Durfee and Reimer led the scoring with 9 points apiece. Trotter contributed 6 points while holding lanky Bob Jones to 13 points.

The Crook County maintainers have been busy night and day lately clearing the snow from the roads so the mailmen and others can travel about. The Mona mailman was not able to make his trip a week ago last Friday as the road hadn’t been cleared yet.

February 13, 1969

Four Crook County men, recently inducted into the army, are receiving basic training at Ft. Lewis, Wash. The men are Ivan F. Policky and Larry Weaver, Sundance; Donn L. Ike, Oshoto; and Ronald J. Feehan, Moorcroft.

Two members of the BearLodge FFA chapter have applied for the State Farmer degree according to Richard Hubbard. Applicants are Ray Marchant and John Snider. Three members of the local chapter are also applying for state foundations awards to be made at the convention. The boys are Norman Lytle, forestry; Ray Marchant, home improvement; and John Snider, livestock farming.

February 17, 1994

The wheels of a Deadwood slot machine stopped just right last week for Craig Hemmah of Sundance, who won $228,553.88. Hemmah manages the meat department at Decker’s Food Center here and also C&A Meats, a meat processing business he started in November 1991 with Alan Richards.

Cliff Symonds and Jennifer Vineyard of Sundance won their High School Challenge events at the Wyoming Rodeo Association finals in Casper of Sunday. Both Cliff and Jennifer received nice prizes for their wins.
