Legislative Update

Greetings from Cheyenne! In this, the fifth week of the 65th General Session, Monday was the last day for Committee of the Whole in each Chamber. With so many bills under consideration this year, that meant that good bills were not heard prior to the cutoff – including a couple of my bills. Thankfully, four of my bills have made it to the Senate for consideration.

The House has also started considering Senate bills this week. Members of the House will work these bills with due diligence to make them better where we can. Senate Files we have already started to tackle include SF 28 – Banking technology and stock revisions, SF 93 – Grizzly bear hunts and SF 6 – Personal property tax reporting.

There has been a lot of movement on the budget bills coming from the House and Senate this week. In reality, the supplemental budget only represents one percent of the total government budget and the two chambers are not very far apart.

The conference committee was appointed on Friday and should be able to come to agreement quickly.
