The Sundance wrestlers participated in the 24 team Belle Fourche Wrestling Invitational on January 25 and 26. Due to sickness and injuries only 6 of the 10 team members participated.
Placing for the Bulldogs was Owen Haiar at 120 lbs. (6th place) going 4-3 on both days. Also placing was Gavin Robinson at 195 lbs. going 3-2 on the two days for 7th place.
Others participating but not placing were Myles Stefanich 113 lbs., Ben Tinsley 126 lbs., Oakley Viergets 138 lbs. and Leo Lyons 170 lbs.
After a short break, the Bulldog grapplers visited Hill City for the always tough 18-team Black Hills Wrestling Classic. Eight wrestlers competed over the weekend with four individuals gaining individual honors.
The four place winners were Owen Haiar 3rd place, Myles Stefanich 5th place, Gavin Robinson 6th place and Dawson Flahaven 6th place. Others competing but not placing were Titus Schelling, Oakley Viergets, Payton Ewing and Leo Lyons.
This week the Bulldogs host the Annual conference duals set for Thursday, February 7. Teams competing are Sundance, Hulett, Moorcroft, Wright and Tongue River. Action starts at 11:30 a.m. with each team wrestling four duals.
This tournament will end the 2018-19 regular season. The post season begins on Saturday, February 16 with the Eastern regional action at Wright HS.
