Board Meeting – February 4, 2019

Chairman Peggy Boardman called the regular board meeting of the Crook County Fair Board to order at 5:38 pm. The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

Board members present: Peggy Boardman, Lonny Bossman, Justin Gerstner, Terri Johnson

Employees present: Carolyn Fowler, Jessica Weinand

Visitor: Stevie Phillips, Cody Steinbrecher, Britta and Tyler Thiel

Lonny moved to approve the agenda, Terri seconded, all ayes, motion carried.

Terri moved to approve the minutes from the January 7, 2019 meeting, Lonny seconded, all ayes, motion carried.

Lonny gave the Treasurer’s Report.

$ 6,192.96 January Expense

$ 8,966.51 Net Income

$ 83,790.63 January Balance

Lonny moved to pay bills received, Justin seconded, all ayes, motion carried.

Carolyn gave the Secretary Report. Brian of Sundance FFA questioned the use of a portable scale that is in the big barn. He would use it for weighing livestock during the summer. Justin moved to allow Sundance FFA to borrow the portable scale with a contract stating when they take it, return it in good condition, and report when it is returned, Lonny seconded, all ayes, motion carried.

Jessica gave the Maintenance Report. Discussion was held about manure and trash buildup in the big barn.

Guests: Barn members discussed barn maintenance. Heel-o-matic can be used as long as the arena is scheduled to be worked the next day, the user has the ability to drag the ground after use.

Peggy gave the Awards Committee report.

Justin moved to hire the Kissacks to perform Wednesday night of fair, Lonny seconded, all ayes, motion carried.

Old Business:

Policies and Procedures: Lonny moved to finalize the policies and procedures with changes, Terri seconded, all ayes, motion carried.

PreCorp easement: Joe is working with PreCorp on the agreement for vacating an easement when power lines are updated.

New Business: Lonny moved to keep the official newspaper the same with The Sundance Times, and the official depository with Sundance State Bank, Justin Seconded, all ayes, motion carried.

Barn scheduling: scheduling will be for current calendar month only, open day will be Saturday

Lonny moved to adjourn at 8:27 pm, Terri seconded, all ayes, motion carried.

The next meeting is scheduled for March 4, 2019 at 5:30 pm.
