Anna Marie Jones

Anna Marie Jones, age 85, passed away at Powder River Manor in Broadus, Montana, on January 17, 2019.

Anna was born on January 25, 1933, in Rocky Point, Wyoming, to Edwin and Gertie (Blankenship) Atkinson. She was the youngest of eight children. Anna graduated from Hulett High School in 1950 and attended Black Hills Teacher’s College receiving her degree and graduating in 1953.

She went on to teach at several country schools. She was teaching at Thompson Creek School when she met Johnny Jones at a country dance.

Johnny and Anna were married on March 14, 1955. They resided in Carter County for a short time when they moved to Colorado until Johnny’s father asked them to move to Belle Creek, Montana to take over the family ranch.

Some of her favorite hobbies included gardening, embroidery and cooking, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandkids. Many brandings brought people of all kinds from all over just to enjoy her home cooking.

She cooked for what seemed like an army more times than most can imagine. There were occasions when she would prepare as many as four meals to appease all four grandkids. Her hospitality spread far and wide and she touched the lives of so many during her time on earth.

Anna is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny; parents, Edwin and Gertie; an infant sister and six brothers; and son Alvin. She is survived by daughter, Marsha (Jim) Osloond; son, Kelly (Debbie) Jones and twin daughters, Carolyn (Robert) Traub and Marilyn Jones; grandkids, Bobbi Traub, Echo Jones, Nick Jones, Chantz Jones, Marshall Osloond, Telisa Williams and Christel Powell; great-grandkids, Jadyn, Michael, Logan, Payton, Nolan, Bailey, Carter, Matazie, Gage, Brynna, Shiley, Braelynn, Dalton, Landon and Trystan.
