The extremely short-handed Bulldog grapplers battled in the Powder River conference duals this past Thursday. SHS Girls The Lady Bulldogs crossed state lines last weekend to participate in the Stateline Shootout with Belle Fourche, Lead-Deadwood and Newcastle. In this competition, the four teams played a round-robin matchup. The Lady Bulldogs opened the Shootout with a 43-31 victory over the Newcastle Dogies on Thursday evening. The Bulldog wrestlers opened their season at the Lusk Invitational this past weekend. Four Bulldog grapplers placed in the top five throughout the competition. Lyman Halverson and Shyla Shoun finished in third place. Halverson won with a 9-2 decision in the 120 weight class and Shoun took her victory with a fall over Hallie Fuller from Lingle-Fort Laramie in the 140 weight class. Two Sundance Junior High wrestlers attended Wyoming Amateur Wrestling Association (WAWA) 2023 Middle School State competition in Green River on Dec. 10. A new class that was introduced to Sundance High School this year has already seen one young lady take the title of being the first student official in Wyoming to put her new skill to use. According to Lisa Dutton, "sports officiating" is both an opportunity for the students and a great help for high school sports in Wyoming.
