The Upton-Sundance Patriots were back on the football field last week as they traveled to Newcastle to face the Dogies. It was a tough go for the Patriots, who, in the end, fell 48-6. The Dogies started the game out strong, scoring twice within the first quarter, taking an early 13-0 lead. This past weekend, the Sundance Bulldog volleyball team traveled to Big Horn to compete in the Big Horn Invite. There were 13 2A teams participating in the invite and the Bulldogs got to see how they would stack up against their competition from the west side of the state. “During the weekend we played most of the 2A teams from the West side of the state. The Sundance cross country team opened their season participating in the Mallo Camp meet, hosted by Newcastle, on Saturday. The Bulldog team has 15 participants this season. Team scores for cross country are determined by the top five finishers of each team for each race. The Upton-Sundance Patriots kicked off their football season against the Worland Warriors. It was a challenging matchup for the Patriots, who ultimately fell, 36-0, to a strong opponent. It’s hard to play pickleball without a net, but will it be safe from thieves if it’s left up at the court? Sundance’s pickleball club has been keeping the net locked up to protect it, said Clerk-Treasurer Theresa Curren last week, but this has caused a problem because the city has received requests from members of the public who would like to make use of it. Team 307 returned undefeated from the Colorado Live Showcase in Denver, a summer basketball tournament in front of dozens of college coaches. The team formed this year under coach and organizer Thomas Bush, with the aim of increasing basketball play opportunities for local kids over the summer months and helping them work towards their personal goals, as well as towards college sports.
