The 2022 track and field season came to a close this past weekend as the Sundance Bulldogs participated in the state meet in Casper. "Despite the horrible weather, our kids competed well at the state meet," coach Lance Hofland commented. "We had several set their 'PRs,' personal records at the state meet. The Sundance junior high track team participated in the Best of the East Meet in Douglas on Mon., May 9. All individual events had to meet a qualifying standard during the regular season in order to participate in this meet. Sundance had four individuals qualify and participated in five relays. The Bulldog track and field team competed in the Regional Track meet, held in Newcastle, this past weekend. Although many Bulldog athletes have already prequalified for the state meet, this was another opportunity to qualify. The Sundance golf team traveled to Wright this past weekend to participate in the Spring Championships. The Lady Bulldogs walked away as the 2022 Spring Champions. The Sundance junior high golf team wrapped up their spring season at the district tournament, which was held at Paradise Valley Country Club in Casper on Monday afternoon. The regular season for track and field came to a close on Friday as the Bulldogs hosted their annual invite. Although the weather hasn’t cooperated, the spring golf season is winding down. The Sundance golfers participated in the Tiger Invitational last week in Lusk. The Lady Bulldogs claimed another team title at the Invitational as they were able to edge out the stiff competition of the Upton Lady Bobcats with a team score of 308 to the Bobcats 310. The junior high track team ended their season on Saturday, participating in the district meet held at Croell Field. The winter weather held off for the track and field teams last week as the Bulldog participated in meets at Upton and Spearfish. Traveling to Upton on Thursday, the Bulldogs competed in the Mick Tonkel Classic. The Classic was a smaller meet and many of the Bulldog athletes were able to take the top spots in their events. The Sundance golf team opened their spring season in Upton last Friday competing against golfers from Upton, Glenrock, Lusk, Wright and Moorcroft. Although Sundance did not have enough to compete as a team, individually, the Bulldogs were able finish the meet in great position. If you have driven past Sundance Elementary lately, you may have noticed a large ring on the playground. It’s actually called a Gaga Ball Pit, used for the game Gaga Ball. Each winter brings the opportunity for the bravest among us to leap into the icy waters of Keyhole Reservoir and raise money for Special Olympics Wyoming.
