    U.S. Senator John Barrasso opened the Veterans Day musical program at Sundance Elementary School last week with a speech about the importance of those who serve and Wyoming's contributions to the defense of America. Barrasso brought "challenge coins" with him for every veteran present and spoke to the fact that all Wyoming's veterans are also cowboys, which means they keep on going and never complain.     Mrs. Hansen’s class Maya – For Thanksgiving, I will get my turkey from the store. I don’t think we season it or stuff it with anything. We will cook it in the oven for 14 minutes on hot. I like to enjoy my turkey with soy milk. I will eat it at our house on our table with my grammy (Terry), mommy and daddy. I like to eat Thanksgiving turkey for dinner.     Veterans and members of the public are welcomed to enjoy a program from the Sundance Junior High and High School Band and Choir this Thursday, November 11. At 7 p.m. on Veteran’s Day, the free concert will honor our veterans under the direction of Mrs. Teresa Preisner.     Sundance Elementary fifth and sixth graders will be honoring our veterans on Wed., Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. Songs will include Those Who Served, Star Spangled Banner, Yankee Doodle’s Pony, Tribute to the Armed Services, Fifty Nifty United States and Thankful for the USA.     Sundance FCCLA members joined 450 other Wyoming students at the Pave the Way fall conference in Casper. Members participated in workshops on developing leadership skills, membership and the AT&T It Can Wait program, which focuses on the dangers of texting and driving.     The Sundance seventh graders are starting the annual Watkins fundraiser. The fundraiser will run from Sept. 27 through Oct. 13. Products should be delivered by Nov. 15 unless a backorder occurs. This has been a valuable money-maker for this class for two decades. Watkins has been in business for 150 years.     On September 17, the kids of Sundance Elementary school weren't studying but, instead, were running through the fairground arena, covered in mud. The obstacle course consisted of balancing on wooden beams, running across growing tree stumps, leaping over hurdles of barrels, crawling under spider webs of yarn, climbing over pallet-made teepees and finally racing through dozens of tires.   • Bus drivers attend clinic

    The annual Crook County Bus Drivers Clinic was held in Hulett on August 19, with 40 drivers attending. Drivers completed their six-hour, state mandatory training, while refreshing their loading and unloading practices, evacuations and district policies.
