  • Lindholm selected for Girls State

    Willow Lindholm has been selected as the Sundance delegate to Wyoming Girls State, to be held June 4-10 at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne. Sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 80 (Hulett and Sundance, Janet Cole Lake, Girls State co-chair), Willow’s experience will be a week-long session of learning about government on the city, county and state levels.     Tobi Miller, Sundance art teacher, for many years has had all of her seventh grade students (32 this year) participate in the American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Unit 80 (Hulett and Sundance) poppy poster contest.   • Change of date for variety show

    The date of this year’s variety show at Sundance High School has been moved to April 6 to avoid a clash with prom. The annual variety show is an entertaining evening of comedy, artistry and musical performance with students, staff and community members showing off their talent for the benefit of those who attend.     Sheridan College is pleased to recognize students named to its honor rolls for the fall 2022 semester. Sheridan College has three honor roll lists: the President’s Honor Roll, Vice President’s Honor Roll and the Part-Time Honor Roll. Hulett’s Rachel Morgan was named to the President’s Honor Roll.     Third and fourth grade students from Sundance Elementary will present Yee Haw! on Tuesday, March 14 at 6 p.m. This rollicking western adventure features songs dedicated to the Old West.     The Bearlodge FFA partnered with the Crook County Farm Bureau to put on a speaking contest on Feb. 21. This allowed speakers from Sundance and Moorcroft to compete in the creed, prepared and extemporaneous speaking.     The residents of Crook County Memorial Hospital's long-term care unit (LTC) will soon wake each morning to the sound of birds chirping right outside their windows.   • County graduation rates higher than state average

    Once again, the students of Crook County have outdone the state average with a graduation rate for the 2021-2022 school year of 90.6%. This places Crook County School District among the top 15 in the state. Overall, graduation rates in Wyoming have been statistically strong over the last decade, staying above 81% since 2014 according to the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE). This year’s state average was 81.8%, down slightly from 82.4% in 2020-2021, which was the highest in the nine-year span. A total of 77 students graduated in Crook C...

    The Sundance High school FCCLA group has been very busy throughout the 2022-2023 school year. There are 25 members in this year's Chapter. Members started off with selling coffee cakes as a fundraiser for the fall leadership conference in Casper.     It is time to register for kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year. Sundance Elementary School registration paperwork is available at the school office. Registration packets were sent to all Sundance preschools as well. Children entering kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year must be age five on or before Aug. 1, 2023. Children who turn five between Aug. 1 and Sept. 15, 2023 will need to be screened for readiness by CCSD#1 prior to enrollment.
