  • The function of a conjunction

    Sarah Pridgeon|Dec 19, 2019

The beginning of the year will bring two notable changes to the process of titling a vehicle. It will now be possible to set up the paperwork for joint ownership such that only one signature is needed to transfer that title on; it will also become legal to ask someone else to help you handle your paperwork. In the first instance, says County Clerk Linda Fritz, “Representative Tyler Lindholm pursued legislation so that, if you title a vehicle with a conjunction of ‘or’, then only one person has to sign to sell. It still has to be notarized.” Unt...

    Sarah Pridgeon|Dec 19, 2019

A hub of the Sundance community, the hardware store on Main Street made its reputation as a convenient local destination for paint, appliances and fixtures. Now going by the name Sundance Hardware and Sporting Goods, the store reopened under new ownership over the weekend. “Our goal is to be very positive for the town. We want people to shop here and not have to go somewhere else,” says Brent Fowler, who now co-owns the store with wife Carolyn. The previous owners were ready to move on, he say...

    Dec 19, 2019

The Longhorn Saloon & Grill was full to bursting on Friday night as those who had purchased tickets for the annual Holiday Hoopla gathered to see if they might be among the lucky few whose names were drawn out for prizes. For the first time this year, the Sundance Chamber of Commerce opted to draw every ticket on one evening, rather than spread the drawing out between three weeks. The first place prize of $1000 in Sundance Bucks went to Chris Adams, while Waneta Sell came second and won $300 in...

  • Letter to the Editor

    Dec 19, 2019

Dear Editor, “Why do I get a bill if the ambulance takes me to the hospital?” Recently, the newspaper seems to be filled with information on the provision of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), with the discussion ranging from how to replace old, unreliable vehicles, to who should be providing EMS to the Sundance community, how does the services support itself and how should funding occur. Recently, a large company offered “informational lunches” to discuss medical transportation “membership”; however, they cancelled these meetings. Currently,...

  • This Side of the Pond

    Sarah Pridgeon|Dec 19, 2019

Some people love golf, others enjoy knitting, but I like semi colons. Everyone needs a hobby; mine is the correct placement of punctuation to ensure maximum readability in every sentence. You’re probably thinking I’m one of those people on the internet who ignore your carefully worded message because you used “there” instead of “their”. As I feel quite sure it’s a bad way to share an appreciation of grammar, I promise I have never done this. I don’t even think everyone should need to know al...

Summer and fall faded into winter in a blink of an eye. Most, if not all, weed spraying opportunities have come and passed. However, the Weed and Pest is still continuing to stay busy into the cold snowy months. Winter months bring an abundance of statewide meetings to prepare for the coming spring. Invasive species control also forges on in the form of poisoning prairie dogs. The first meeting of the winter was the 75th anniversary of the Wyoming Weed and Pest Council Fall Conference. This year was held in Evanston, and turned out to be a...
