    KEVN Black Hills FOX has announced its eighteenth annual Rising Star of the West Scholarship contest. This year, thanks to Monument Health, the total value of scholarships is once again at $7500. The first place winner will receive a $4000 college scholarship, with $2000 for second place, $1000 for third place and $500 for fourth place.   • Wrestling season off to great start

    The Bulldog wrestlers opened their season at the Lusk Invitational this past weekend. Four Bulldog grapplers placed in the top five throughout the competition. Lyman Halverson and Shyla Shoun finished in third place. Halverson won with a 9-2 decision in the 120 weight class and Shoun took her victory with a fall over Hallie Fuller from Lingle-Fort Laramie in the 140 weight class.     Two Sundance Junior High wrestlers attended Wyoming Amateur Wrestling Association (WAWA) 2023 Middle School State competition in Green River on Dec. 10. Luke Halverson competed in the 85-pound weight division, with one win and two losses. Wudzie Zaato competed in the 140-pound weight division with four wins and one loss earning him second place in the state as well as qualifying for Team Wyoming, which is headed for the Heartland Duals in Iowa March 2024....

    SHS Boys The Sundance boys’ basketball team opened their 2023-24 season in Upton this past weekend, taking part in the Upton Classic. The Sundance Bulldogs went up against three 1A teams over the course of the two days. On Friday, the Bulldogs were paired with Riverside and easily walked away with a 50-23 victory over the Rebels. The Sundance team used their defense to help control the momentum of the game; scoring 25 points off of Rebel turnovers and securing 27 defensive rebounds throughout the 32 minutes of play.
