Thanks to a suggestion from Powder River Energy, the change is expected to lower costs for the building once complete. "The...
Though there are penalties built into the City of Sundance’s zoning ordinances for residents who add on their property without first obtaining the required permits, Council Member Joe Wilson brought it to the council’s attention last week that they are not currently being enforced. Police Chief Marty Noonan presented his thoughts to the council, explaining that he had researched the question at Wilson’s request. On reviewing the ordinance, he found a section stating that anyone who viola...
The City of Sundance is paying more than its public works director would like to haul construction and debris to Gillette, the council heard last week. City engineers Trihydro added to this frustration when Jeff Young reported that the timeline to secure approval for a new pit could take more than eight months. A roll-off container of debris costs a flat rate of $350 to haul, Public Works Director Mac Erickson told the council. It costs the same every time it goes, no matter how much is in it,...

Brooks told the council that he and Clerk...

The National Honor Society induction ceremony was held on Nov. 20 in the Sundance High School Auditorium. There are four pillars of National Honor Society: Scholarship, Service, Character and Leadership. Students must complete an application, write an essay and have a letter of recommendation to be considered. "Just applying for National Honor Society prompts students to look at various aspects of their lives and write down their past accomplishments, which is great preparation for college...

Pictured are students Natalie Curren, Jade Weaver, Tucker Dobson and Brooke Corean....
