The county commission will be hosting a public hearing on December 5 at 2 p.m. regarding some updates and amendments to its minor subdivision rules and the bylaws that apply to its planning and zoning commission. Should the updates to the subdivision rules be approved, the Crook County Commissioners will now have the authority to approve the covenants drafted for new subdivisions. Top Wyoming officials have called the proposed changes to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) burdensome and unreasonable in a batch of comment letters sent last week to the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ). Charles Flint of Sundance has been sentenced to 120 months in federal prison for possession of child pornography. The sentence was imposed on October 2 by U.S. District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson. Flint pled guilty to the charges in July. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christyne M. Martens. Thomas Wayne Symonds was born to Harry and Genevieve Belhuemer Symonds on December 22, 1940, in a little one room white house on the creek in Whitewood, South Dakota, the youngest of seven children. The family later moved to Sturgis when Tom was a very small child. He attended school in Sturgis and throughout his teenage years he worked for Frances Haley and on Pete Quick's dairy. Joe Duvall at the age of 71 died Wednesday October 4, 2023 at his home in Spearfish, South Dakota, with his loving wife by his side, after a long battle with cancer. Joe was born in his family home in Sundance, Wyoming, on October 13, 1951, to Dillard and Freda Duvall. Friends and family of Jeri Jespersen-Gibson will be hosting a benefit dinner this weekend to raise money to assist her fight against cancer. Jespersen-Gibson was in remission for four years, but must now travel to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas to once again battle the cancer. A Minnesota man has been charged with possession after both methamphetamine and marijuana were found on his person and in his vehicle during a traffic stop. On October 4, a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper was patrolling U.S. Hwy 212 near milepost 16 when he saw a vehicle traveling east at a high rate of speed. Traffic radar recorded the speed at 85 mph in a 70 mph zone. Women in stable condition following severe crash JACKSON (WNE) — Three women are rebounding after their SUV was hit Sunday afternoon by a tanker truck hauling milk near Munger Mountain Elementary School on Highway 89.
