Devils Tower National Monument opened back up just a couple of days after a temporary closure caused by hail damage. The storm on the evening of August 19 brought down numerous trees, damaged buildings, campers and vehicles and made many of the trails impassable. Significant damage was also reported at the KOA campground next to the Tower and surrounding businesses. Todd passed away surrounded by loved ones due to complications from a severe traumatic brain injury on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 in Aurora, Colorado. Born on July 12, 1938, in Gillette, Wyoming, to John and Marguerite Kummerfeld, Carol graduated from Moorcroft High School in 1956. A Gillette man has been charged with felony counts of child abuse and domestic battery after allegedly becoming violent with one adult and one juvenile victim at Sand Creek Campground. Florida man gets 15 years for fatal crash GILLETTE (WNE) — A truck driver from Florida who was found with beer cans in his cab after crashing into and killing another driver north of Gillette has been sentenced to up to 15 years in prison.
