    The unofficial results are in for the 2024 Primary Election and there are few surprises for this year's incumbents. However, John D. Davis beat incumbent Kelly Dennis to the Republican nomination for county commissioner by 999 votes to 741. Chip Neiman ran unopposed to retain his State Representative title and received 1610 votes in Crook County.     The Devils Tower KOA Campground played host to the 21st annual Devils Tower Car Show on Saturday, sponsored by Moorcroft's Texas Trail Cruisers Car Club.     High winds and golf-ball sized hail during a storm on Monday evening caused severe damage at Devils Tower National Monument, leading to a temporary closure of the site. According to Emergency Management Coordinator Ed Robinson, the damage included blown-over trees, including one that fell on a building, as well as scattered garbage and significant damage to vehicles.     Crook County's firefighters tackled a 509-acre fire last week near Oshoto, which destroyed an old school house. The Bertha Hill fire on August 14 was caused by lightning and was first reported by local ranchers. It was located off Dead Man Road in grass and brush and required a sizeable response to bring under control.     A Las Vegas man faces possession charges after his story about traveling to Blackhawk to become a farmer raised suspicions for a Crook County Sheriff’s Office Deputy. According to court reports, at around 4:30 p.m. on August 6, the deputy observed a vehicle parked in a driveway with two adult males inside.     Like the rest of Wyoming, Crook County’s population has seen some changes over the past couple of years. Perhaps the most significant is that the state experienced the fastest population aging in the nation between 2022 and 2023. During that timeframe, according to data from the state Economic Analysis Division, the total population of Wyoming only grew by 0.4% but the population aged 65 and over grew by 3.5%.
