  • "Pledge" clash continues at town hall

    Sarah Pridgeon|Jul 1, 2021

Four Wyoming legislators answered a host of questions at last week’s town hall meeting in Sundance, but one topic in particular seemed at the front of everyone’s minds. The event saw further friction between Senator Ogden Driskill and Representative Chip Neiman over a “pledge” the latter asked legislators to sign in support of a bill to introduce run-off elections. Crook County’s reps were joined by Representatives John Bear of Campbell County and Chuck Gray of Natrona County. At least the...

  • Judge turns down Smith's plea agreement

    Sarah Pridgeon|Jul 1, 2021

It’s not because further punishment is needed that Judge Thomas W. Rumpke chose to decline Marty Smith’s plea agreement last week. Instead, he said, it’s because he feels she needs more supervision for her drug and alcohol problems before being released back into the community. Smith changed her plea to “no contest” on charges that she was criminally involved in the death of local man Doug Haar. She was found guilty of both accessory to involuntary manslaughter and to aggravated assault and battery by a jury in 2019, but the case was to be hea...

  • CCMSD: conduct called into question again

    Sarah Pridgeon|Jul 1, 2021

Conversations about the conduct of the Crook County Medical Services District Board of Trustees were initiated at May’s regular meeting, but put on hold due to the absence of the Trustee Sandy Neiman, whose actions had been called into question. Though Mark Erickson, board chairman, did not feel the need to continue that discussion last week, Trustee Connie Lindmier felt that Neiman had a right to hear what she had been accused of. Acquiescing, Erickson began by commenting that, “We have a lot of discussions that go on that we are not in agr...

    Sarah Pridgeon|Jul 1, 2021

Who will pay the outstanding costs associated with the Red Bluffs Clinic in Hulett, recently estimated to stand at approximately $1.5 million? Bill Motley, secretary of the Crook County Medical Foundation (CCMF), presented a letter to the district that stated his board, “has made the unanimous decision not...

After breakfast at Zane’s hotel the party proceeded to the famous landmark and had a splendid outing, returning to Sundance for a supper at the tourist camp grounds. Sarah Pridgeon|Jul 1, 2021

Micki Lyons, CEO of Crook County Medical Services District, was able to confirm last week that the long term care unit is once again open to visitation. “We did have a positive employee in our long term care, which caused us to have to lock down our long term care to visitors for two weeks,” she stated. However, as there have been no further positive COVID-19 tests, the unit has been opened back up. Lyons reported that the infection numbers in Wyoming are “staying pretty steady” and at this time there are no hotspots near this county. Wyoming D...

Pastor Dave Jagemann, Chapel of Faith|Jul 1, 2021

The Lord preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He saved me. ~ Ps. 116:6 Is anything in life simple? The answer is no and yes. The world, in general, is not an easy place. Since the fall in the Garden of Eden and the introduction of sin, what was once good is now complicated and corruptible. Here are several straightforward observations to assist in simplifying your life: There is no side-stepping the simple message of salvation and subsequent peace found in Jesus Christ. Simple to see...
