  • Weekend brings 76th Hulett Rodeo

    All are invited to come down June 10 and 11 to the Hulett Recreation Grounds for the 76th Annual Hulett Rodeo. Events start at 1:30 p.m. each day and, for those who’d like to come early Saturday, the parade starts at 10 a.m. on Hulett’s Main Street.     Things aren’t looking too alarming on the county’s budget spreadsheets this year. Though the current total from all requests made by the various departments that keep the county running are higher than the estimated amount that will be available to spend during fiscal year 2023-24, says County Clerk Melissa Jones, the two figures are relatively close compared to some years.     The Sundance Rod and Gun Club's annual kids' fishing derby was held Sat., June 3 at Sundance Pond. Almost 40 kids, ages 13 and under, registered in sort of rainy conditions at noon. But the rain stopped at 1 p.m. and the weather was very nice for two hours for the kids to fish. The longest trout was caught by Adam Frazier and Brock Chandler at 9¾".     For the tenth year, kids from across the county and beyond gathered at the fairgrounds last week to partake in the popular 307 Northeast Livestock Show Clinic. Hosted by the Crook County Extension Office, the goal of the clinic is to give kids learning opportunities to prepare livestock for showing.     The month of June holds spiritual and cultural significance for the tribes closely associated with Mato Tipila – Bear Lodge (Devils Tower). The 1995 Devils Tower National Monument Climbing Management Plan established a voluntary closure for all climbing routes on the Tower out of respect for the cultural activities of Native Americans.     Bond revoked for Dell Range shooting defendant CHEYENNE (WNE) — Tirso Munguia, 19, one of the three defendants charged in connection with the shooting death of Angelina Harrison, 16, had his bond revoked last week after violating the terms of his bond by allegedly making contact with Harrison’s family.
