Under the interim commandership of Phil Colozzi, Sundance's American Legion Post is in the process of reorganizing and launching anew and is actively seeking members as it rebuilds. According to Colozzi, caring for the graves of local veterans is one of the most...
It’s been more than seven years since Rare Element Resources (RER) was forced to put a hold on all the permitting activities associated with its rare earth mine in the Bearlodge Mountains. Step by step since that time, the company has been able to reestablish its funding sources, including a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) and a significant investment from General Atomics. Now, said CEO Brent Berg during a presentation to the Crook County Commissioners last week, the company has reached the point where it is awaiting the ...
Federal charges against Charles Flint of Sundance have been filed in U.S. District Court in Cheyenne. A federal arrest warrant was issued by the U.S. Marshal’s Office on May 19. “As a result, the State believes that the federal system is better equipped to address these charges and to impose an appropriate sentence,” states a motion filed by Deputy Crook County and Prosecuting Attorney Jeani Stone. Consequently, on May 24, Judge Matthew F.G. Castano signed an order dismissing the case in the Sixth Judicial District Court without preju...

The board considered a proposed annual budget that had been prepared by Zoe Elyada, GL Accountant, at Wednesday’s monthly meeting. “We clearly need to go in and make some changes before the final budget is given to you, but from our standpoint, I need to know what you guys are willing...

There is a fun activity this Friday night, June 9 for our community at the golf course. It’s called the Sundance 10 Person Shootout and those who have attended the last four years have loved it! The top ten golfers in the area from Gillette to Rapid City will all tee off on #1 and only two will remain when the group gets to #9. You can place bets, get some food and drink, grab a cart and follow the players around the course until there are only two left on the last hole. The competition gets pretty intense but it’s all fun. The players pla...

The Public Health Emergency for COVID-19 officially ended on May 11, much to the relief of Crook County Medical District. As the emergency period ended, so too did the requirements placed on the district, said CEO Micki Lyons last week. The district is...
