    Hard work pays off and SHS art students are yet again a fine example of this. The annual Wyoming Art Symposium was held April 25-27 in Casper. Over 4200 pieces were displayed along with 75 schools and over 1000 students in participation. Only one quarter of all artwork gets awarded. Janessa Wilen walked away with a first as well a Congressional/3-D Artistic Discovery Award for her warm glass piece titled “Late Autumn”. Janessa had well over 30 hours in to this project alone.     The Crook County Farm Bureau Federation has selected the winners for two $1000 scholarships for the 2019-2020 school year. This year's winners are Emma Marie Jay and Grace Belize Anderson. Emma Jay was selected to receive a $1000 scholarship from the Crook County Farm Bureau Federation for the 2019-2020 school year.     The Sundance-Hulett boys golf team placed second at the Sundance Invite last week and the Sundance girls came in third. Individually, Sherry Negaard finished first out of all the girls.     To celebrate both Earth Day and National Student Leadership week, a group of student council members met at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 22, to pick up trash in Clarenbach Park.     The Scott Hardy Memorial meet took place in Wright on Friday. Facing off against some tough competition, the Sundance Bulldogs had a strong performance with the girls finishing third as a team and the boys fourth. Jayden Davis, Hunter Skeens and Josiah Rudloff were all able to take home a first place finish for the Bulldogs in the 800, 1600 and 110 hurdles respectively.   • Fire consumes ranch hand house

    A weekend fire near Hulett unfortunately consumed a ranch hand house and hunting lodge on the Bush Ranch. The fire was called in on Saturday, April 27, at around 12:30 p.m. according to Fire Chief Jack Johnson. The ranch is located 19 miles out of Hulett. Engine 51, Brush 7 and Unit 433 all responded from Hulett when the call came in.     This class of students recently satisfactorily completed the Wyoming Game & Fish Department Hunter Education Class held in Sundance. This class involves about 17 hours of class instruction, marksmanship, gun handling and the passing of a written test.
