    If you have an interest in what happens on Crook County’s federal public lands, your help is needed to assist in creating a natural resource management plan.   • Rare disease hits pronghorn near Gillette

    The Wyoming Game and Fish Department, in collaboration with the Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory, is investigating a rare disease outbreak in pronghorn in northeast Wyoming. More than 50 animals have been found dead to date, north of Gillette beginning on Feb. 15. The preliminary results identify Mycoplasma bovis as the pathogen causing the mortalities. Mycoplasma bovis should not be confused with Mycobacterium bovis that causes tuberculosis in cattle. They are two unrelated bacteria that cause very different diseases. Game and Fish is...

    College students and soon-to-be-graduates from Crook County’s schools are once again invited to apply for the annual Commissioner Scholarship Program, awarded on the base of need, academic standing and leadership qualities. Three scholarships per year are available to seniors in the amount of $1000. The commissioners aim to pick a candidate from each of the county’s three school zones.     Two Sundance men have been arrested on fraud charges after allegedly writing a total of ten bad checks to businesses and entities within the City of Sundance. Robert Glenn faces a felony count of fraud, while both men have been charged with multiple misdemeanors. According to a press release, the airport board has passed a resolution to change its name to Northeast Wyoming Regional Airport.
